I spied your zoo photos earlier as well, nice pics. You’re DC sunset pics are nice as well.
I like Don King’s eye in this pic. It’s such a perfect red and black circle, it almost doesn’t look real.

what an interesting looking bird! trying to imagine how it could work as nature’s camo, but it must be male coloring instead!

colin, i agree — the eye doesn’t look quite real. glad you enjoyed the pics.
deb, it’s hard to imagine this bird in the wild. i finally found it online — the western crowned-pigeon of new guinea. hunted for food and plumes, it is considered vulnerable on the list of threatened species. interestingly, the male and female have exactly the same markings.
