happily ever after

on november 21, 2009, my friends, tracy and dana, were married.

as a favor to the couple, and as an aspiring photographer, i agreed to document their day in photographs.  what a day it was — the weather was beautiful, the church was lovely, and the guests were excited.  after a beautiful ceremony, the moment came for “the kiss,” only before kissing his new bride, dana pulled out his phone and began updating his relationship status on facebook, and then he handed a surprised tracy her phone to do the same.  the crowd erupted in laughter and enjoyed the rather unique moment — a moment that was especially fitting for tracy & dana, who are never more than an arm’s length from their phones.

a wedding guest was filming the ceremony, and the next day, dana posted the “facebook update” portion to youtube.

the happy couple

and then it went viral (over 650,000 views the last time i checked).  the story was picked up by the ap, fox news, cnn, regis, yahoo, the today show, and the list goes on.

all i can say is, tracy & dana — you rock!  thank you for inviting me to share in a day that was so uniquely you; a day that is now being shared by the world.  i wish you a lifetime of happiness together (and i expect to hear all about it on facebook).
