goodbye thirty-four
today is the last day of my 34th year, and as an homage, i’ve pulled together a list of 34 things that i’ve seen and done and learned over the past year:
1. watched my first steelers game from the field with my favourite steelers fan (thanks t.m.m.).
2. renovated my 1960s bathroom.
3. spent a week in denver. primarily at prime bar.
4. got a raise and an office with a view.
5. made it through another december of daily blog posts.
6. got a lensbaby and a kodak duaflex II and a polariod 210 land camera.
7. was diagnosed with AVNRT, and despite the assurances of my doctor and the cardiac electrophysiologist, i am haunted by the fear that during one of my episodes, my heart is going to stop.
8. had a guinness a day for the month of march (thanks johnwaire).
9. survived the great kitchen cabinet disaster of 2010.
10. received robert pattinson for christmas (thanks brook & marc).
11. weathered three blizzards with my parents (snowpocalypse, snowmageddon and snoverkill).
12. photographed the ‘facebook wedding‘.
13. attended the bluemont fair.
15. saw charlotte martin.
16. won a contest on flickr. go me!
17. welcomed both my mother & father to facebook. who would have thought?
18. was reminded that it’s better to say what you feel than to live with the regret of not doing so.
19. learned that, deep down, everyone wants to be ‘seen’.
20. rediscovered carl sagan and wished that i could have had a chat with him before he died.
21. had dinner & drinks at the congressional country club with my dad.
22. rewatched the entire six feet under series with a friend who causes me endless confusion (yep you, e.m.y.).
23. celebrated my ‘yellow roman candles‘.
24. visit the ‘burg and asheville and biltmore estate.
25. kept in touch with a friend who’s far away, but always in my heart (a.j.b.)
26. surrendered to the notion that ‘it all works out‘. ’cause it does. really.
27. said goodbye to LOST.
28. learned that the best things in life are always the most elusive.
29. coveted the iphone 4 upon first glance and promptly attempted to pre-order one, only to discover the white version isn’t available yet. way to let a girl down, apple.
30. saw ‘new moon’ on opening day and already have the opening day tickets for ‘eclipse’ (yay brook!)
31. saw three amazing waterfalls in one day.
32. discovered beauty & truth in new and unusual places.
33. was reminded that much of life depends on good timing. and that i have generally bad timing.
34. learned that family & friends are what make life worth living.
it’s been a good year, filled with promise. goodbye 34, i’ll remember you fondly.
