last year, i moved into an office on the fourth floor of my building in baltimore. finally, i had an office with a window, and that window happened to face east. arriving at 7AM, i quickly discovered that i had, what seemed like, my own, personal sunrise each morning. and that was too good not to share.

so, i started capturing the sunrises with my iphone — not daily, but at least once a week — from august 2010 until june 2011. of those, i’m sharing 65. some are spectacular, some are rather ordinary, but all are unique.

this became my daily nudge to remember to open my eyes — and to be still — and, for just a moment each day, to marvel at something beautiful and fleeting and true.

i can’t think of a better way to start the day.

snowpocalypse 2010

over two feet of snow blanketed the mid atlantic region friday and saturday, in what has been called, ‘snowpocalypse 2010′.

cabin fever set in for me yesterday evening — two plus feet of snow can do that to a person. while trying to find something interesting to bide my time, i remembered that my nikon d90 shoots video (in addition to still pictures), so i grabbed my camera and decided to give my dearest sophie an open forum to discuss her musings on the snowpocalypse.
