how do you sum up a relationship in words? years of falling asleep together, laughing together, building a life together — are there words enough to say what it all meant?

perhaps just this: it mattered. you mattered. we mattered.

no, it didn’t last forever.

no, it wasn’t our happily ever after.

but it was special, and for a time, it was ours.

Really liked your post. Simple and profound…keep up the great work!

So true.

heather, you have such a way with words, it sometimes leaves me flattened. I guess definitionofinsane said it best with “simple and profound”, because it really seems like you’ve touched on the heart of something bigger than the words look like they could contain.

I don’t even know if that makes sense, but this post leaves me feeling an interesting mix of nostalgic and wistful. And hopeful.

marinka, thanks for the comment.

deb, thank you for your words, they absolutely make sense. one of the challenges i battle when writing is finding the right balance — saying just enough to tell my story, but leaving enough spaces so that others can find a truth in the same words. i don’t always succeed, but i enjoy trying 🙂

Wow. Just wow.

This post has moved me in ways that I can’t even express. I really did find my own truth in your words, and it’s one that I’ve been searching for, for a long time.

Thank you.
